The summer swimming season is here. Many families visit both indoor and outdoor pools to cool off on those hot summer days. Did you know you might be swimming in poopy water? Yes, Medical Health reports 60% poop found in public swimming pools in the Atlanta area. Do you think everybody washes their hands and butt with soap and water before they get in the pool? Think about it. How many people (kids especially) wash themselves before they jump in a pool? Swallowing pool water contaminated with feces can lead to an infection and consequently vomiting, nausea and fever, among other symptoms.

Reminds me of the time I went to my Timeshare week in the summer. I was ready for a swim in the pool as soon as we got unpacked. Well, when I finally made it down to the pool, it had a sign that read swimming  pool closed until further notice. To say the least I was a little bent. Why was the pool closed? Come to find out, earlier in the day a couple had their son who was about 1 year old in diapers, playing in the big pool, not the kiddie pool which this place has. Naturally the little boy messed his diaper and the poop fell out and was floating in the pool. Everybody out of the pool. We have to take bacteria tests and put more chemicals in the water so the bacteria count comes down to state  and federal levels. This is not what I wanted to hear. And guess what? Those muscle heads of a couple still stayed at the hotel. They wouldn’t dare go near the pool. To this day every year my wife and I go to our Timeshare week. After that we won’t swim in any public pool. We go in the ocean. I will take my chances with the sharks rather then swim in the pool with poop.
